Syrian Democratic Forces form a new Military Council in Hasakah

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced on Wednesday evening the formation of a new Military Council in Hasakah, northeastern Syria, amid the presence of social, political, administrative and military figures in the city.

Hussein Ali Salmou, the commander of the newly formed military council said in a speech while announcing the formation of the council that they are “continuing the military struggle after the defeat of the Islamic State group,” referring to the great sacrifices made by the Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and Assyrians in order to protect their city.

For his part, Khabour Akad, a leader of the military council in Hasakah told North-Press that “the establishment of Hasakah Military Council is the beginning of a new formation of the Syrian Democratic Forces to reach democracy within their military formations.”

Mr. Akad added: “This step will give all the components of the region their natural status and we will reach a great stage of freedom and democracy that we have been striving for since the beginning of the revolution.”

It’s worth mentioning that Syrian Democratic forces are re-organizing their ranks through the formation of new military councils in a number of northern and eastern Syrian cities following political and military developments in the region, as well as following the military defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS) on March 31.
