Government forces mobilizes more reinforcements for the battle of international highway

The Russian and Syrian fighter jets have resumed targeting areas in the northern countryside of Hama after sending more reinforcements to the area, after hours of relative calm and caution in the de-escalation zones in the northwest of the country. 

Hours after the aerial bombardment which hit areas in the town of al-Habit at midnight yesterday, and areas in the town of Kafr Zeta in the northern countryside of Hama that witnessed aerial bombardment on Friday morning. 

The renewed heavy shelling raised fears among the residents in the areas near the contact lines in the southeastern countryside of Idlib and northern Hama, that the Syrian government forces started a new offensive this morning with the aim of expanding its control around Aleppo-Damascus international highway after it had earlier advanced and controlled the areas of Abu Raida, Wadi Hasmin, al-Sakhr, Tal al-Sakhr, al-Zakat, al-Arba’een, Husraya, al-Jeesat and nearby farms and hills, following the resumption of the military operations after the ceasefire of the 13th round of Astana talks.  

These fears were raised by Syrian government forces bringing in military reinforcements of hundreds of troops, vehicles, ordnance and armored vehicles on the fronts of the southeastern countryside of Idlib in preparation for a wider battle aimed at controlling wider areas of Aleppo-Damascus international highway.

Meanwhile, the armed opposition groups have also targeted Syrian government forces’ posi8 in al-Jeesat axis in the northern countryside of Hama with information about human losses among the Syrian army.  

As a result of the aerial bombardment which hit areas in the town of Khan Sheikhoun in the southern countryside of Idlib and Latmeen north of Hama, 4 civilians were killed in addition to other injuries of varying severity. 

While, more than 22 members and fighters of the Syrian government forces and opposition groups were killed in the clashes in the last 24 hours, according to identical local sources.
