On Friday, for unknown reasons, Russian and Turkish forces stopped the eighth joint patrol on the M4 highway, which was scheduled to arrive in the town of al-Nayrab in the southern countryside of Idlib.
A field source in Idlib told North-Press: "The eighth joint Russian-Turkish patrol on the M4 highway, accompanied by Russian reconnaissance and fighter aircraft, started on Friday morning from the village of Tarenba (4 km west of Saraqib) but did not arrive as scheduled to the town al-Nayrab (5 km south of Sarmin town) in the southeastern countryside of Idlib."
The source added that the joint patrol had restricted its path to exit less than one kilometer west of the town of Tarenba, after which it returned to its starting point for unknown reasons.
Yesterday, Thursday, Russian and Turkish forces conducted the seventh joint patrol on the M4 highway, started from the town of Tarenba, and reached the town of al-Nayrab.
Earlier, a field source in Idlib told North-Press that on the 26th of this month, Turkish forces, accompanied by members of armed opposition groups, tried to forcibly disperse a sit-in by Idlib protesters and fighters from opposition groups after they refused to allow the passage of Russian military vehicles.
Clashes took place between Turkish forces and local protesters along with opposition groups on the M4 highway, which resulted in the killing of three people, one of which was an opposition fighter, and the others residents of the region. Five others were also wounded, according to the field source.
