Since Friday, Syrian government forces have continued to shell areas in eastern Idlib, while areas in the southern countryside have witnessed clashes between government forces and armed opposition groups.
Field sources east of Idlib told North-Press that today, Saturday, the town of Neirab and the village of San east of Idlib witnessed artillery shelling by Syrian government forces stationed in the Saraqeb area.
Clashes took place at midnight Friday and Saturday between armed opposition groups and Syrian government on the axis of the village of Ma'ara Alia, west of Saraqeb, and the village of al-Fatira in Mount Zawiya, south of Idlib, in an attempted advance by government forces in the area.
On their media pages, armed opposition groups reported that they were able to kill an officer and wound ten other members of the government forces on the fronts of the southeast Idlib countryside.
Syrian government forces managed to arrest two members of the opposition groups (the National Front for Liberation) near the town of Tarnaba, southwest of Saraqeb, on Friday night, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
In the recent period, the Idlib region has witnessed violations of the ceasefire decision between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed opposition groups, which was reached after an agreement between Turkish President Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Putin on the fifth of March.
