On Saturday night, Turkish forces and their armed opposition groups bombed the M4 highway and the villages surrounding it, near the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.
A military source told North-Press that Turkish forces and opposition groups targeted a fuel station on the M4 highway in Ain Issa last night, as well as the villages surrounding the town.
The source pointed out that Turkish forces fired illuminating mortars in the sky over the town of Ain Issa. The source did not elaborate injuries or damage to civilians’ property.
Two members of the Syrian government forces were wounded yesterday in the shelling by Turkish forces and opposition groups on the village of Abdkoy near Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa governorate.
Military sources told North-Press that the bombing coincided with the intense flight of several Turkish aircraft over the region.
On Monday, the Turkish army began building a new military base in the countryside of the town of Abu Rasin / Zarkan, in the Tel Tamr district, 40 km north of Hasakah, after emptying three villages and bulldozing dozens of houses.
Areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo inhabited by civilians and displaced people from the city of Afrin, as well as areas and villages in Ain Issa and Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, are subjected to repeated daily shelling by Turkish forces and opposition groups with heavy weapons and missiles. This is in disregard of the United Nations initiative calling for a humanitarian truce to confront the risks of the spread of the emerging coronavirus.
