A new military operation by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and international coalition forces to combat the Islamic State resulted in the killing of two members of ISIS during clashes in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

On his Twitter, the head of the Center for Coordination and Military Operations of the SDF said that on Wednesday night, the SDF's counterterrorism forces, with the support of the coalition, targeted an ISIS cell in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The center added that two members of ISIS were killed after blowing themselves up after being wounded in clashes during the operation.

Last week, counterrerrorism forces and the global coalition attacked an ISIS sleeper cell in the city of Basra, east of Deir Ezzor.

Colonel Myles Caggins, the spokesperson for the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh, posted a tweet in which he mentioned that a joint operation against ISIS in Deir ez-Zor targeted ISIS militants who are responsible for terrorist activities in the Deir ez-Zor governorate and that a mid-level member in the organization was arrested.
