Syrian reconnaissance aircraft shot down amid government forces bombing in Idlib

After midnight Thursday-Friday, Syrian government forces targeted sites belonging to armed opposition groups in southern Idlib and western Aleppo. Meanwhile, armed opposition groups down a Syrian reconnaissance aircraft.

 

A field source told North-Press that Syrian government forces targeted several points of the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition in the areas of Kansafra, Fleifel and Sufohn in the southern countryside of Idlib, as well as the village of Rweiha, north of Ma`rat al-Numan, and the villages of Qasr and Kafr Aama in the western countryside of Aleppo with artillery.

 

It was not clear whether or not the shelling caused losses in the targeted villages and locations.

 

The source added that opposition groups shot down a reconnaissance plane belonging to Syrian government forces in the airspace over the Kafr Nabl and al-Bara regions.

 

The ceasefire reached after an agreement between Turkish President Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 5th entered its 71st day in a row, amid repeated violations in the region between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed opposition groups.

 

The de-escalation zones are witnessing security chaos and repeated attacks by unknown individuals on headquarters belonging to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and armed opposition groups loyal to Turkey, amid continuing tensions between the two parties.
