On Saturday, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups targeted sites under control of Syrian government forces in Zawiya Mountain, amid an expanded security presence by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on the Turkish border.

A field source told North-Press that on Saturday, armed opposition groups targeted government forces in the Kafr Nabl and Hazaren areas in Zawiya Mountain in the southern Idlib countryside, in response attacks on their positions in Zawiya Mountain on Friday.

On Friday, the Syrian government forces bombarded the locations of armed opposition factions in the areas of Kansafra, al-Barah, Sufouhn, and al-Fateira in Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib, killing two opposition militants and wounding five others, according to the same source.
On Saturday, Syrian government forces based in the city of Saraqeb targeted opposition locations in the areas of Efes and Majdalia in the eastern Idlib countryside.

The source stated that after the recent escalation, groups of HTS members were seen on the Turkish border with Idlib Governorate, with no additional information.
The ceasefire process that was reached after an agreement between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 5th entered its 72nd day in a row, amid repeated violations in the region between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions.
