Afrin IDP Children in northern Aleppo celebrate the start of the school’s new year

The Kurdish Students’ Union have organized on Saturday evening a celebration for students on the occasion of the start of the second school year for Afrin’s IDP children in Berxwedan camp in the town of Fafin, in north Aleppo countryside.
The celebration started with artistic performances by folkloric dancing and singing teams, some theatrical performances, in addition to awarding some outstanding students who had participated in a number of sports activities and events which were held during the summer holidays.
Zainab Naasan, the director of the union said that the aim of such activities is to “encourage students and boost their morale with the beginning of the school’s new year, in addition to raising the efficiency of students and their interactivity”.
“We have awarded the successful students who participated in the summer activities of football and chess, in addition to some poetry, literary and scientific competitions. Our goal is to always encourage the students and motivate them to do their best”, Naasan said.
Moreover, Ms. Naasan noted that the events also included competitions of asking students, who were divided into groups for each school, questions about science, mathematics, physics and general culture.
“I am happy to be here with my friends, the activity is very interesting, I wish a successful school year for all students”, said Abdulqader Hasko, a student who attended the event.
While Aryan Khalow, a participant in the event, said: “I performed a song with my colleagues, I hope to be able to give some joy and optimism to the students through our activity, and I wish success for all students in the school’s new year”.
It is noteworthy that more than two hundred thousand IDPs, who had fled the Turkish army and Turkey-backed armed opposition groups’ invasion into the northwestern Syrian-Kurdish region of Afrin, now live in the areas of Aleppo northern countryside, which is held by the Syrian government forces.
