An elderly woman named “Houria Muhammad Bakr”, from Syria’s Kurdish region of Afrin, has died this morning after she was severely injured as militants of Turkey-backed armed opposition group had attacked her house and killed her husband in a previous time.
On August 25, some militants of the armed opposition groups attacked the house of the old couple in Afrin, northwestern Syria, and killed the husband “Mohieddin Osso” in order to steal the house properties, where only 100,000 Syrian pounds, about ($150) were found.
Local sources from Afrin have accused al-Jabha al-Shamiya (The Levant Front) militants of Turkey-backed National Army, of killing the elderly Mohieddin and causing the death of his wife Houria upon the militants’ attack on their house, beatings and torturing them, especially the old woman “Houria”, who suffered severe bruises in her face and chest.
The sources pointed out that Houria was transferred to the hospital after the deterioration of her health situation as a result of the severe beatings on the rib cage, where she was diagnosed with a rupture in the kidney’s cortex, to continue bleeding for ten days, then eventually to die, according to local activists from Afrin.
The people of the Syrian-Kurdish region of Afrin are witnessing a series of abuses by the Turkish army and its affiliated armed opposition groups, including kidnappings, assaults and looting, on charges of dealing with the Autonomous Administration of northeastern Syria, while international human rights organizations have accused those armed groups of carrying out demographic change operations manifested by the displacement of more than 350 thousands of Afrin’s indigenous Kurdish people.
