Autonomous Administration extends curfew for fourth time

On Monday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria renewed the extension of the curfew from tomorrow to the end of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
In a post published today on its Facebook page, the Autonomous Administration stated that the curfew period starts from seven in the evening until six in the morning the following day.
According to the post, all shops and professionals to are permitted to open stores from six in the morning until seven in the evening, while transit and mass transport (public and private) are permitted to work inside and outside cities, taking into account health measures and physical distancing.
The statement indicated that the working hours of administration institutions remain suspended until the end of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, "except for the health and service sectors, and some workers deemed essential by the administration.”
Border crossings remain closed until a decision is issued by the co-chairs of the Executive Council for North and East Syria, according to the text of the post, in addition to the closure of cafes, restaurants, cafeterias, schools, and universities which will remain closed throughout the curfew period.
Residents are allowed to practice religious rituals in mosques and places of worship in the last week of Ramadan as long as they observe health measures and physical distancing.
The Hasakah region was excluded from this decision due to the earlier appearance of coronavirus infection, "to take the appropriate measures by the administration in Jazira as the situation develops.”
On the 29th of April, the administration announced two new cases of coronavirus, a couple from al-Omran neighborhood west of the city, after the results of the tests they had conducted by the specialized medical teams returned positive.
The Autonomous Administration extended the curfew for the third time on the 30th of April for ten days, during which it allowed all shops, professions and markets to be opened in the morning, excluding cafes, restaurants, cafeterias, places of worship, schools, and universities.
