On Thursday, the Kurdish Red Crescent formed a medical team for emergency cases in the city of Hasakah in northeastern Syria, amid fears heightening the spread of the novel coronavirus epidemic in the region after recording many cases in the Syrian government territories.

The team is based in the al-Shaab dispensary in the Tal Hajar neighborhood in the city.

The clinic was provided with several vehicles and medical personnel to deal with cases related to coronavirus with coordination with various security forces and Autonomous Administration institutions.

Abdul Aziz Khalaf, the administrator of the Hasakah Center for the Kurdish Red Crescent, told North-Press that their task now is to cover emergencies related to coronavirus epidemic and quarantine works.

"We started with this work since the 20th of last March, but we have established the team to work more systematically," he added.

Khalaf noted that they work according to a shift system throughout the day, "with a staff consisting of 14 paramedics and anesthetics and 5 ambulances, and any suspicion of any case we immediately intervene to connect them to the centers and medical points to reveal their status and treatment."

He also pointed out that there is full coordination with the various security agencies and Autonomous Administration institutions in northeastern Syria to deal with this pandemic if cases were discovered in the region.
