This week, the Civil Administration in Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo has taken additional precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus, where cars and vehicles going in and out of the two neighborhoods are sterilized.
Anwar Muhammad, official of the sterilization committee in the two neighborhoods, said that, all cars are sterilized with chlorine, in addition to sterilizing the coffins of the dead when going into the neighborhoods.
Muhammad added that, they have closed all crossings and kept only one open, stressing that there is no coordination between them and the Syrian government regarding the prevention of the outbreak of coronavirus.
However, some residents and food store owners of the neighborhood complained about their suffering while cleaning vegetables that were chlorinated while sterilizing trucks and transport vehicles.
Jihan Sheikhmous, a resident of al-Ashrafiyeh, added that the entry of sterile vegetables and fruits makes it difficult for housewives to clean them of chlorine.
As for the sterilization mechanism, Layla Hassan, member of the co-presidency of the Health Council in the two neighborhoods, told North Press that they sterilize the vegetables as a precautionary measure, where they wash the vegetables well and put them in water and vinegar, or water and salt, for half an hour to be sterilized.
The Civil Administration in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafiyeh inspects those entering and leaving the neighborhood such as the employees, the doctors and others who were permitted to do so after obtaining approval from the internal security forces or the general council of the neighborhood.
