Al-Jazira Bar Association calls UN to stop Turkish invasion in northern Syria

The Bar Association in al-Jazira region in northeastern Syria on Tuesday has called on the United Nations and the Security Council to take measures and recommendations that would stop the Turkish aggression on the areas of north and eastern Syria.

In its statement, which came during the sit-in of lawyers and jurists in front of the United Nations office in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, the Bar Association stressed on the suspension of Turkey's membership in the United Nations and its privileges after the Security Council took preventive measures against them, according to their statement. The lawyers also demanded that to separate Turkey from the United Nations because of its breach of principles of the United Nations Charters.

The statement called on the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to disavow the results of his meeting with Turkish President Erdogan, which was held in Istanbul on 1 November. In addition, to apologize to the people of north and eastern Syria, who defeated terrorism instead of him and others.

Concerning the region's demographic change, the protesters in front of the United Nations office in the center of Qamishli rejected "any settlement in the areas of north and eastern Syria," stressing that their areas "are only for their original people."

The protesters called on the United Nations to accommodate the Syrian refugees in camps under the auspices of the United Nations, until the completion of a political solution to the Syrian crisis, rather than displace the people of the region and housing others instead of them.
