Dara’a governorate, southern Syria, is witnessing a renewed assassination operation targeting some Syrian government officials and former leaders of the armed opposition groups.
Pro-government sources confirmed the killing of one of their members in the Fourth Division of the Syrian Army, and the wounding of two others, earlier this morning, as a result of gunfire by unidentified gunmen near the camp of “Zizon” in Dara’a countryside.
Meanwhile, a member of the central committee in charge of the national reconciliation and negotiation with the Russians in the region was killed last night, former “Ahrar Nawa”, an opposition militia commander Khaled Nasser Abu Rukba, was shot by unidentified assailants in front of his house in the town of Nawa, northwest Dara’a.
Also, a civilian was shot on Monday by unknown assailants in the town of “Jillen”, western Dara’a, while guarding a village farm.
The Syrian government forces took control over the entire governorate of Dara’a after processes of reconciliation agreements with the armed opposition groups stipulated cessation of military actions, handing over heavy and medium weapons, and the departure of opponents of the reconciliation agreements towards Syria’s north-west.
The agreements were then appended by “guarantees for those who were willing to remain, not to be approached by Syrian government forces and other security forces.”
