Syrian Democratic Council warns US and Russia of danger of Turkish violations against NE Syria

(North Press) – The head of the Executive Board of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Ilham Ahmed, accused Turkey of targeting civilian activists with drones and warned the US and Russia of the danger of these operations to the ceasefire agreements that the two sides signed with Turkey.

“Turkey continues to violate the airspace of North and East Syria, and it targets active people in the region,” Ahmed tweeted.

“It seems that Turkey uses drones in an alternative way to attack. In this way it gains the international silence and kills whoever it wants. This is a dangerous act and a violation of its agreement with the Russians and the Americans,” Ahmed added.

On Thursday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) of North and East Syria announced that a Turkish drone targeted a building belonging to the SADCOP fuel company, east of the city of Qamishli, injuring a civilian.

On July 20, a center for the maintenance of agricultural machineries in the Mahatta Qadima neighborhood in Qamishli was also targeted by a Turkish drone, injuring civilians.

Previously, the Autonomous Administration and the Asayish accused Turkish forces of targeting a Russian coordination point, south of the town of Derbasiya, northern Hasakah, injuring a Russian soldier and three civilians.

In late June, a Turkish drone targeted a house in the village of Helinj in the countryside of Kobani, killing four, including a women's activist.

Washington and Ankara announced a ceasefire agreement on October 17 last year, followed by a Russian-Turkish agreement on October 22, according to which the SDF withdrew from the border area.
