On Wednesday, the Defense Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria held Turkey responsible for the bombing in the city of Afrin in northern Syria and demanded that concerned countries to work to remove Turkey and their affiliated armed groups from all Syrian territories.
The Defense Department said in a statement that "the massacre is added to the series of massacres committed by Turkey and its mercenaries throughout Syria, especially in Afrin," referring to what is being experienced in the al-Shahba area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where the indigenous people of Afrin fled to, and is the subject of continuous bombardment by the Turkish army and its affiliated armed groups.
The statement affirmed that the armed groups present in Afrin "kill each other daily with the plunder and theft of the property of the local people of Afrin, while they are in internal conflict and infighting," refusing to dismiss any such practices by "targeting civilians with cowardly terrorist operations."
The statement also added that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are committed to the international initiative to stop hostilities and the need to work to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
A huge explosion occurred yesterday, Tuesday, in front of the popular market on Rajo Street, in the center of Afrin city, killing 46 civilians and injuring dozens, among them children and women.
