The Head of the Syriac Union in Syria said that the Turkish military invasion in northeastern Syria threatens all peoples of the region with all its components and ethnics. Sennacherib Barsoum said: "We saw damage to everyone by the military aggression on Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ain".
Barsoum stressed that the latest developments are the insistence of these terrorist groups linked to Turkey and in cooperation with the Turkish military to occupy the villages of Khabour, the Syriac-Assyrian town of Tal-Tamr, where all components live in complete harmony.
He continued: "With great resistance from the forces of Syrian Democratic Forces and Syriac Military Council who are exerting efforts to protect the region from the evil of the Turkish terrorism, we appeal to the international community, especially the United States of America, which has drawn red lines on the Turkish regime to avoid conflict in Christian areas, however, there is a break in this issue".
Mr. Barsoum called for immediate intervention to stop the Turkish aggression on all areas of northern Syria, especially what is happening now in the villages of Khabour and Tal Tamr.
"The Syriac Union Party stresses that the Turkish assault caused great harm to our Christian people in all areas, and created fears for the expansion of the war, there is displacement and there are fears for their future in these areas,” Barsoum added.
He concluded that the international community, Russia, and the United States who have concluded agreements with Turkey, “must take into account the specifics of the components of the region and stop its recent aggression with its affiliated terrorist groups, which are no less than ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist organizations.”
