SDF approve Russian initiative, redeploys its forces away from border-line

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced its approval to the Russian initiative to stop the Turkish invasion in Syrian territories, and that it would withdraw from the Syrian-Turkish borders and redeploy its forces in new locations.

In a statement issued by the SDF on Sunday, it said: “After intensive discussions with the Russian Federation regarding our previous reservations, we have agreed to implement its initiative to stop the Turkish aggression on northeastern Syria.”

As they reiterated that they’re redeploying to new locations away from the Syrian-Turkish borders, “and that is to stop bloodshed and save the population of the region from the Turkish war machine.”

The statement stressed that the border guards of the central government of Syria will be deployed along the Syrian border-line with Turkey.

“We assure the public opinion our full commitment to defending the peoples and gains of the region, and we call on the Russian Federation to implement its commitments and ensure a constructive dialogue between the Autonomous Administration and the central government in Damascus,” the statement said in conclusion.

On the 22nd of October, Russia and Turkey announced in the Russian city of Sochi a memorandum of understanding, recommending the conduct of Russian-Turkish military patrols on the Syrian-Turkish borders at a depth of 10km, in exchange for the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) out of the border areas.
