Turkish threats would revive ISIS sleeper cells – N/E Syria official

Ali Hajo, the co-chair of the Interior Bureau in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria said: “The Turkish threats against north-eastern Syria would activate the Islamic State’s sleeper cells in the region”.

Hajo added in a statement to North-Press, that these threats contribute to the revival of ISIS terrorist group again, citing the recent actions of ISIS women in al-Hol camp, describing the acts as “terrorist”. Thousands of ISIS fighters’ families live in al-Hol camp in Hasakah and in Ain Issa camp.

He said that the Autonomous Administration is holding thousands of ISIS militants in its prisons, “some of them are very dangerous”, pointing to the possibility of losing control over those captured terrorists, in case Turkey launched a military assault against the region.

North and north-eastern Syria regions have recently witnessed numerous terrorist attacks, car bombs and motorcycles, while the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) have captured many militants of the group’s sleeper cells.
Military sources from Tal Abyad Military Council told North-Press earlier today, that the U.S.-led Coalition forces have increased their military presence on the bordering posts with Turkey, after the recent Turkish threats to launch a unilateral military assault against north-eastern Syria.
