A Kurdish member in the Syrian parliament called on the Autonomous Administration in northern Syria to coordinate with Damascus to face the Turkish ambitions and threats in northeast Syria, while pointing out that there is a radical difference between the stance of the Syrian government and the stance of the external opposition in the Syrian coalition regarding the Constitutional Committee.
In a press statement of the Kurdish MP in the Syrian parliament Omar Osei, he appealed to the components of the Syrian people in northern Syria to be alert and prepared for the dangers of the Turkish ambitions aimed at a demographic change in the region.
He called on the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), its forces and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria to go to Damascus immediately and continue the dialogue because it is the only way out and the real response to all these Turkish aspirations, wishing that the Syrian government would respond to such a dialogue.
“Turkish statements about a military invasion of the eastern Euphrates and the establishment of a safe zone, have recently increased where these threats remain serious,” Osei said.
Regarding the issue of the Constitutional Committee, he said: “There is a drastic difference between the stance of the Syrian government and the stance of the so-called external opposition in the Syrian Coalition. The Syrian government considers this committee to be a Syrian-Syrian one, to discuss the existing constitution that was drafted in 2012; it rejects any outside interference in this process, and it is serious about cooperating with this national entitlement because the outputs of this committee will pass through the Syrian Parliament and then would be put to a referendum,” Osei said.
He continued: “While the opposition of the National Coalition believes that the formation of this committee to draft a new constitution is the beginning of the so-called political transition, Turkey wants to intervene in the work of the Constitutional Commission, its formation and exclusion of the majority of the Kurdish component, where it wants an Ottoman constitution that takes into account its expansionist colonial ambitions in the Syrian territories.”
According to the Syrian Member of Parliament, the constitutional issue is not an important issue at this stage, in light of the Turkish occupation in those areas, the main danger now is to counter and thwart the Turkish colonial plans and the control of the terrorist groups over some Syrian areas.”
Omar Osei believes that the external interference in the Syrian constitution will continue even under the convening of the constitutional committee; however, it will not produce any result and this committee will fail in its work as a result of these interventions.”
