Minister for Transport:  The investment of Tartous port with Russia is a strategic project

Syria’s Minister for Transport said, Damascus “did not abandon Tartous port, it always has been Syrian and always will be, ran by a super-power friend of Syria.”

The Syrian government has signed a contract with a Russian company to invest Tartous port for /49/ years.

“Syria does not accept any partnerships with companies belong countries fought its people, who sacrificed its people, and suffered to keep the Syrian sovereign decision,” said the Minister for Transport, Ali Hammoud during an interview on Syria channel.

Furthermoe, Hammoud said  that the contract with Russia for the investment of Tartous port ,is a strategic project, which will lead to significant investments that contribute to the reconstruction of Syria and achieve very large economic revenues.

On the details of the contract, he considered that /49/ years, is a natural period for the investment of strategic projects, and that “it is a procedure conducted, globally, in all of contracts for such projects, beside the money that been invested.”

He noted that Tartous port will be one of the most important ports on the Mediterranean Sea.

Regarding the port’s revenues, he said: “We took 25 % of the revenue, regardless of expenditures, and this percentage will increase to 35% gradually with the completion of the port’s construction,” adding that Russia’s investment will double the Syrian revenue to /84/ million dollars a year; more than three doubles of its current status.
