Three Internal Security Forces members killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Three members of Syria’s Internal Security Forces were killed and others wounded on Thursday in clashes with gunmen in the city of Sanamayn in the northern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
Local sources told North Press that the clashes, involving light weapons, broke out in several neighborhoods of Sanamayn and continued for an extended period. Explosions were also heard across the city during the fighting.
Following the clashes, security forces imposed a curfew across the city, the sources said.
The developments come amid growing security tensions in the city that have persisted for several months, the sources added.
Sanamayn has witnessed a series of similar clashes in recent months, resulting in deaths and injuries among both sides, according to the sources.
The latest violence adds to continued security instability in parts of Daraa, where armed confrontations and retaliatory attacks have periodically occurred despite efforts to restore security in the southern Syrian province.
