Syria says 14 killed in arms depot blast in Idlib
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that 14 ministry personnel were killed and more than 10 others, including civilians, were injured in an explosion at an arms depot near Sarmada, north of Idlib.
The ministry said in a statement that the explosion occurred at a temporary depot containing weapons and remnants of war near Sarmada in northern Idlib.
Specialized units from the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, immediately secured the site and dealt with the aftermath of the explosion, the statement said.
Specialized authorities are continuing to investigate the causes and circumstances of the incident, it added.
The Defense Ministry assumed full responsibility for the incident and offered condolences to the families of those killed.
