Shaibani, Safadi warn of Israeli attacks on Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned on Wednesday that continued Israeli attacks threaten Syria’s security, stability and sovereignty.
Earlier Wednesday, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and al-Shaibani received Safadi, Jordan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, in Damascus.
In a joint statement, al-Shaibani and Safadi renewed their condemnation of repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, calling for an end to them as a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministers said the Israeli actions also constitute a breach of international law and Israel’s obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s reconstruction process on foundations that preserve the country’s unity, sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity.
Safadi also welcomed the announcement of the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their integration into Syria’s military institutions, describing it as an important step toward strengthening Syria’s unity, security and stability.
The Jordanian minister said his country supports efforts aimed at preserving Syria’s unity and sovereignty and strengthening the cohesion of its state institutions.
The two ministers also discussed developments in southern Syria and efforts to implement the joint roadmap concerning Suwayda governorate and stability in southern Syria. They stressed the need to preserve Syria’s territorial unity, ensure the security and rights of all Syrians, and uphold state sovereignty across the country.
According to the statement, the ministers agreed to maintain consultations, communication and coordination between relevant authorities in the two countries to follow up on cooperation and implement agreed measures.
The coordination, they said, aims to strengthen relations between the two countries and serve their mutual interests.
