Israeli forces make incursions in Syria’s Daraa, Quneitra
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces made incursions into areas of western Syria’s Daraa and Quneitra countryside on Friday, deploying military vehicles and infantry units amid continued tensions in southern Syria.
Several Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by infantry, entered the area between Abdeen and Maariya villages in the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa countryside, according to local sources.
The Horan Free League said Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area and searched several homes.
Three military vehicles also entered the al-Arada neighborhood of Abdeen village, while three artillery shells fired from the occupied Golan fell on Tal al-Warda town, on the outskirts of Beit Jann in western Damascus countryside.
On Thursday evening, Israeli forces entered Bariqa village in Quneitra countryside with several military vehicles. More than three vehicles were also reported in the area west of Saida al-Hanout village.
The movements come amid continued tensions in the UN-monitored buffer zone in southern Syria, as well as in areas of Mount Hermon and parts of Quneitra and Daraa countryside.
According to information received by North Press, Israel has established about 11 military positions across several villages in these areas, along with command centers and logistical support facilities.
