Syria’s FM meets Norwegian counterpart in Damascus
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met on Monday his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide in Damascus to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in several areas.
Eide arrived in the Syrian capital earlier Monday for his second official visit to the country. He also met with Syrian Parliament Speaker Abdulhamid al-Awwak to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral relations.
According to Syria’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on ways to strengthen ties between Syria and Norway and expand cooperation in health, energy, digital transformation, and maritime transport.
The two sides also discussed Norwegian support for development and humanitarian projects in Syria, along with political developments in Syria and the region.
