Grenade blast kills security officer, injures 2 in Syria’s Palmyra

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A security officer was killed and two civilians were injured Monday when a grenade exploded inside a bag held by a scrap collector outside the Palmyra district directorate in eastern Homs countryside.

A security source told Syrian state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya that the explosion occurred while guards at the directorate were inspecting the bag, killing the security officer and injuring the two civilians.

Internal Security Forces arrived at the scene and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the blast, including the source of the grenade and how it ended up inside the bag.

On Saturday, several Internal Security Forces members were injured when an explosive device targeted a military bus on the Marounah-Saidnaya road in Damascus countryside.
