Israeli army chief says Syria among changing fronts

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said on Wednesday that Syria is one of several fronts where challenges facing Israel are changing, stressing the need to monitor developments there and prepare for them.

“We are operating on multiple fronts where the challenges are changing, and Syria is one of them,” Zamir said, according to Israeli media reports.

“We are monitoring what is happening in Syria and the ongoing changes, and we must prepare for them,” he added.

Zamir said Israel would not allow hostile forces to establish positions along its border.

“We know how to use force precisely when necessary and at the right time,” he said.

He also stressed the need to prevent a military threat from emerging along Israel’s border, saying that the Israeli military had established a security area and a buffer zone for that purpose.

Zamir’s remarks came as Israel continues to monitor developments in Syria and maintain military positions near the Syrian border. Israeli media reported that he conducted a military assessment focused on developments along the Syrian front.
