Syrian authorities seize 3 kg of crystal meth in Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian authorities said on Friday they arrested six people and seized around three kilograms of crystal meth during an operation targeting an alleged drug trafficking network in the eastern governorate of Deir ez-Zor.
According to a statement by Syria’s Anti-Narcotics Department, the operation was carried out in coordination with the Internal Security Command in Deir ez-Zor after monitoring the movements and activities of the suspected network.
Security forces set up several ambushes across Deir ez-Zor city, leading to the arrest of the six suspects, the statement said.
Authorities also seized approximately three kilograms of crystal methamphetamine that was allegedly prepared for distribution and trafficking.
The suspects were referred to the competent judicial authorities after investigators completed the necessary legal procedures, according to the statement.
The Anti-Narcotics Department said it would continue security operations targeting drug trafficking and smuggling networks by tracking transportation routes and distribution channels to curb the spread of narcotics and strengthen security across Syrian areas.
