Syrian minister reviews higher education, university needs in Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Marwan al-Halabi on Thursday visited Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, where he held a series of meetings to review the state of education and discuss ways to improve the higher education sector.
Al-Halabi, accompanied by Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad, visited Rojava University in the city of Qamishli. The delegation was received by Qamishli District Director Jihan Hassam, Autonomous Administration Integration File Official Hassan Sharo and members of the university’s administrative board.
During the visit, al-Halabi discussed the educational situation in the region and the main challenges facing the education sector.
The minister also held a meeting with Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad, Euphrates University President Munir al-Aroud and college deans to review the state of university education and discuss ways to improve it.
The meeting addressed challenges facing academic staff, the progress of the educational process and the academic and administrative needs required to improve the performance of higher education institutions in the governorate, according to Hasakah’s media director.
Al-Halabi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting the higher education sector in Hasakah and providing the resources needed to improve the university environment.
The minister later visited Cordoba Private University in Qamishli with the governor and presidential delegation member Mustafa Abdi, where he met the university’s administrative staff to review the educational process and discuss the sector’s main challenges and needs.
