Israeli army detains citizens attempting to cross into Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli army detained several Israeli citizens who allegedly attempted to cross into Syrian territory, the army said on Wednesday.

In a statement, an Israeli army spokesperson said the citizens arrived earlier Wednesday in the Mount Hermon area with the intention of crossing the border into Syria.

An Israeli army force stationed in the area prevented them from proceeding and detained them, according to the statement.

The detainees were handed over to Israeli police for further proceedings, it added.

The Israeli army called on law enforcement authorities to bring those involved to justice and take firm action to stop what it described as a recurring phenomenon that harms military operations.
