Syria says 3.52 million visitors arrived in first half of 2026
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Tourism Ministry announced on Tuesday that 3.52 million expatriate Syrians, Arab visitors and foreign tourists visited the country during the first half of 2026, marking a 111% increase compared with the same period last year.
The ministry said the number of foreign tourists reached 719,000, up from 131,000 during the first half of 2025, representing an increase of 448%.
It added that the number of Arab tourists rose to 664,000, compared with 320,000 during the corresponding period last year, recording a growth of 107%.
According to the ministry, Turkey ranked first among the countries sending visitors to Syria, followed by Germany, Sweden, the United States, the Netherlands, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Among Arab countries, Jordan topped the list of visitor source markets, followed by Lebanon and Iraq, while the number of visitors from the Gulf states continued to increase, the ministry said.
The ministry announced the figures as part of its statistics for the first half of 2026.
