Syrian authorities seize drug shipment allegedly smuggled from Lebanon
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian authorities announced on Tuesday that anti-drug forces had seized a large shipment of narcotics allegedly smuggled from Lebanon during a security operation carried out in Rural Damascus following what officials described as extensive surveillance.
The Syrian Interior Ministry said the operation was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate after monitoring and tracking the shipment.
According to the ministry, three suspects identified by their initials as A.Sh., S.D., and N.A. were arrested during the operation.
Authorities said they confiscated 113 kilograms of hashish, 46,000 Captagon pills, and 1.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
The ministry added that the entire shipment had been seized and that investigations were continuing to identify additional suspects and others allegedly involved in the trafficking operation.
It said the detainees would be referred to the competent judicial authorities upon completion of the investigation to face the necessary legal procedures.
