Iran claims killing U.S. troops in attack on al-Tanf base in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday claimed that it killed several U.S. soldiers in an attack targeting the U.S. military’s al-Tanf base in souteastern Syria.
In a statement, the IRGC said it carried out a surprise strike on what it described as the U.S. Special Operations command center at al-Tanf as part of the 11th wave of its “Nasr 2” operation.
The Iranian force said the attack was launched in response to what it called the “blood of the martyrs of Iranshahr.”
According to the IRGC, the strike destroyed a radar system and several helicopters used for special operations and resulted in U.S. military casualties.
The claims could not be independently verified, and U.S. military officials had not immediately commented on the reported attack at the time of publication.
The announcement comes amid escalating military exchanges between the United States and Iran. On Sunday, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had completed a ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets, while also confirming the deaths of three U.S. service members in separate incidents linked to the conflict.
