Israeli artillery strikes hit Syria’s Daraa, Quneitra

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli military on Thursday shelled several areas in the southern Syrian governorates of Daraa and Quneitra, while Israeli reconnaissance aircraft carried out intensive flights over the region.

The latest strikes came a day after Israeli forces conducted another ground incursion into western Daraa countryside, following a recent operation in the village of Abidin that triggered tensions between an Israeli patrol and local residents.

According to Syria’s state-run news agency SANA, Israeli artillery targeted the Wadi al-Raqqad area in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa.

The shelling also hit agricultural land surrounding the village of Abidin, farmland between the towns of Bariqa and Kodna in southern Quneitra countryside, and fields near the village of Jamla in western Daraa.

SANA reported that the bombardment coincided with heavy Israeli reconnaissance flights over the targeted areas.
