Syrian parliament to announce al-Sharaa’s 70 appointed lawmakers
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian People’s Assembly on Tuesday announced that it will reveal President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s list of appointed lawmakers on Wednesday, completing the formation of the country’s new legislature.
In a statement published through its official platforms, the Assembly said al-Sharaa’s list, which includes 70 names, will be officially announced the following day.
Sources told North Press on Monday that the presidential appointments would be unveiled during a press conference.
Under Syria’s Constitutional Declaration, the president is authorized to appoint 70 members to the 210-seat People’s Assembly.
These appointments complement the remaining 140 seats, which were filled through elections held across Syria’s governorates, with the exception of Suwayda, where voting was not conducted.
