Israeli army set up checkpoint near Golan separation fence in Syria’s Quneitra

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Local sources on Thursday said that the Israeli army established a checkpoint on a recently constructed road near the separation fence with the Golan Heights, west of the town of al-Rafid in southern Quneitra countryside, southern Syria.

According to the sources, the checkpoint is located within agricultural land in the area and lies only about 300 meters from the separation fence, making it a significant obstacle to residents’ movement and daily activities.

The development comes a day after Israeli forces carried out incursions into several areas of southern Quneitra countryside, conducting searches and arresting one individual during the establishment of a temporary military checkpoint. The forces later withdrew from one area while another unit entered the village of al-Mashida.

Southern Quneitra has witnessed recurring Israeli military incursions in recent months, often involving search operations, temporary checkpoints, and the detention of local residents.

Residents say the repeated military activities have heightened concerns about security and freedom of movement in the region, amid fears of further escalation along the border area.
