Iranian adviser accuses Trump of ‘betraying diplomacy’ amid ongoing talks
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, on Saturday said that US President Donald Trump is “betraying diplomacy” for the third time by maintaining what he described as a naval blockade on Iran and presenting excessive demands during ongoing negotiations.
Rezaei’s remarks came after US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said earlier on Saturday that the United States is prepared to resume military strikes against Iran if negotiations fail to produce an agreement, while negotiators from Washington and Tehran continue efforts to overcome major obstacles in the talks.
On Friday, Trump said he would hold a meeting in a secure room at the White House to make a final decision on a proposal aimed at ending the conflict with Iran. According to Reuters, the proposal would extend a ceasefire reached in early April by an additional 60 days.
