Israeli shelling hits village in western Daraa countryside

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The village of Abdeen in western Daraa countryside came under mortar shelling on Thursday, reportedly originating from Israeli forces, according to local sources.

No casualties or material damage were recorded at the time of reporting.

A local source told North Press that the shelling caused panic among residents after the shells landed near homes in the village.

The source added that the projectiles were 120 mm mortar rounds, with shrapnel impacting some houses, prompting residents to remain on alert amid fears of renewed or expanded shelling.

Local accounts indicated that the incident is part of ongoing developments in southern Syria, where security tensions have persisted for years.

Since the fall of the former Syrian government, Israeli forces have reportedly carried out frequent incursions in southern Syria, alongside periodic shelling and detentions in the area.
