Rising tensions as Israeli units enter Quneitra countryside

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out a ground incursion early Friday into the village of Jabata al-Khashab in the northern countryside of Quneitra, where they reportedly searched a civilian home before withdrawing, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.

SANA reported that a similar incursion took place on Thursday, involving three military vehicles advancing toward the vicinity of the city of Salam on the main road in northern Quneitra countryside.

These movements come amid what reports describe as ongoing violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, which established a buffer zone and mechanisms to reduce direct military confrontation along the front lines in the Golan Heights area.

According to the report, such actions have included house raids and land clearing operations in southern Syria.

The Syrian government has repeatedly stated that all Israeli actions in southern Syria are considered illegal under international law, calling for a full withdrawal from Syrian territory.
