Erdogan congratulates Nowruz, hopes for peace in region
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated on Saturday people across the region on the occasion of Nowruz, expressing hope that the holiday would contribute to ending ongoing conflicts and bring peace.
In a statement marking the Kurdish and Persian New Year, Erdogan extended his congratulations to the people of Syria, Iraq, and Iran, particularly those affected by years of war and instability.
“I congratulate the people of Syria, Iraq, and our Iranian brothers who are struggling with problems caused by war on Nowruz, and I hope it will contribute to ending the wars in the region,” Erdogan said.
He added that the spirit of the holiday, which symbolizes renewal and the arrival of spring, should inspire hope and unity.
“I hope the spring atmosphere brought by Nowruz will bring hope to our hearts, peace to our societies, and peace to our world,” he noted.
Nowruz, celebrated annually on March 21, holds cultural and historical significance for millions across the Middle East and Central Asia, and is widely associated with themes of renewal, resilience, and coexistence.
