Syrian Security arrests 5 over attacks in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government-affiliated Internal Security Forces arrested on Wednesday night five individuals on charges of carrying out attacks against their forces in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, a security source said.
A source from Deir ez-Zor told North Press that a security patrol raided the town of al-Susah in the eastern countryside, arresting three suspects following a manhunt that lasted more than two months.
The source added that the detainees were involved in several attacks targeting security and military patrols, noting that machine guns and ammunition were seized in their possession.
In a separate operation, Internal Security Forces arrested two suspected members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the town of Hatla, also in eastern Deir ez-Zor, after an armed clash that lasted nearly half an hour.
The source said the ongoing security operations in Deir ez-Zor aim to pursue dozens of wanted individuals who remain at large.
