EU allocates €210 million in humanitarian aid for Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The European Commission announced on Monday the allocation of €210 million to support life-saving humanitarian assistance and protection services across Syria, as the country continues to face the consequences of years of conflict.
The funding is part of a broader €458 million humanitarian aid package aimed at assisting populations affected by conflicts across the Middle East, amid worsening humanitarian crises linked to ongoing regional wars.
In an official statement published on its website, the European Commission said the assistance will support emergency response programs and provide essential services to vulnerable communities throughout Syria.
The commission explained that the main portion of the aid package will be distributed during 2026 among five countries in the region: Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.
According to the statement, the funding aims to strengthen humanitarian operations addressing urgent needs, including protection services and other critical support for populations affected by prolonged instability.
Syria has faced a severe humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of conflict in 2011, with millions of people displaced and dependent on international humanitarian assistance.
