Internal Security Forces arrest drug trafficking group in Aleppo countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Directorate in the city of al-Bab in the countryside of Aleppo announced on Wednesday the arrest of five individuals accused of drug trafficking and involvement in several robbery cases, following a security operation that included hours-long clashes.
In a statement, the Internal Security Directorate said the arrests came after “careful monitoring and tracking of the group’s movements.”
The force carried out a security operation targeting the suspects’ location in al-Bab countryside, according to the statement.
During the operation, clashes broke out and continued for several hours before the security forces were able to take control of the site and detain five people allegedly involved in the activities.
The directorate said the suspects were accused of “trading and promoting narcotic substances,” in addition to their alleged involvement in several robbery incidents in the area.
Authorities confirmed that the detainees were transferred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary investigations, in preparation for referring them to the judiciary in accordance with legal procedures.
