Hasakah governor meets ICRC delegation over humanitarian meeds

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The governor of Hasakah, Nour al-Din Ahmed, met on Wednesday with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to discuss humanitarian issues and service needs across the province, according to the governorate’s media office.

The meeting was held with the participation of the head of the ICRC mission, Stefan Sakalian, accompanied by the mission’s special coordinator in Geneva, Marianne Gasser, and the head of mission’s adviser, Basel al-Majd.

From the local administration side, the director of health in Hasakah attended the meeting alongside representatives from the Water Institution, the Kurdish Red Crescent, and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.

According to the statement, discussions focused on ways to support infrastructure in the province, particularly efforts to reactivate the Alouk water station, which serves large parts of Hasakah and surrounding areas.

Participants also reviewed the needs of the health and water sectors. The Water Department called for comprehensive maintenance of the water analysis laboratory and the provision of essential materials required for water sterilization.

Governor Ahmed expressed readiness to provide all possible support and facilitation measures to accelerate the rehabilitation and reopening of the Alouk water station as soon as possible, aiming to improve public services and ease pressure on residents.

The meeting comes amid continued humanitarian challenges in northeast Syria, where local institutions, supported by humanitarian organizations, are working to maintain essential services for civilians.
