Coalition starts equipment transfer from al-Shaddadi base in Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Western source told North Press on Thursday that forces of the Global Coalition have begun relocating equipment from al-Shaddadi base in the southern countryside of Hasakah governorate, as part of a coordinated logistical operation.

The source said that the initial phase of the transfer started on Thursday, with military equipment being moved toward Kharab al-Jir (Rmelan) base in the eastern countryside of Qamishli. According to the source, the process is expected to continue for approximately ten days.

The same source stressed that “US forces will remain stationed at al-Shaddadi base until the completion of the transfer process,” dismissing claims of an immediate or full withdrawal from the site.

On Wednesday, special sources told North Press that reports circulating about a withdrawal of International Coalition forces from Kharab al-Jir (Rmelan) base were “not accurate.” The sources confirmed that coalition forces remain present at the base and continue their routine operations.

The Western source added that the ongoing relocation is being carried out “in coordination with the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces,” underscoring that the move is limited to equipment and logistical assets rather than personnel.

Al-Shaddadi base has long been one of the coalition’s key positions in northeast Syria, located in an area secured by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. The base has played a role in counterterrorism operations against ISIS cells operating in the region, particularly in the southern Hasakah countryside.

The relocation process is expected to proceed over the coming days, with coalition forces remaining deployed at al-Shaddadi base until the operation is completed, according to the source.
