Reports of U.S. withdrawal from Kharab al-Jir base denied

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Sources confirmed on Wednesday to North Press that reports claiming the withdrawal of International Coalition forces from Kharab al-Jir (Rmelan) base in eastern Hasakah countryside are false.

Several social media pages and news outlets had circulated claims that U.S. forces were leaving the base. However, the sources told North Press that “a convoy of trucks left Kharab al-Jir base heading toward al-Shaddadi base.”

The sources added that the convoy is transporting Coalition equipment from al-Shaddadi to an unspecified location as part of a broader U.S. force redeployment plan. No withdrawal of personnel from al-Kharab al-Jir has been reported.

Kharab al-Jir base, located near Rmelan, has been a key hub for the Global Coalition in northeast Syria, supporting operations in coordination with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The base plays a significant role in regional security and counterterrorism efforts, including logistical support and intelligence sharing with local security forces.

North Press sources emphasized that the movement of equipment does not indicate a reduction in operational capacity or a strategic withdrawal from the region.

Officials have not provided further details regarding the convoy’s final destination or the broader timeline for the redeployment.
