Homs, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the city of Palmyra, east of Homs in central Syria, discovered on Tuesday a mass grave containing five unidentified bodies, a local source told North Press.

According to the source, a group of young men from Palmyra came across the mass grave while collecting desert truffles in the surrounding desert.

The source said the grave was found near a former military position previously used by Iranian-affiliated militias and contained the remains of five unidentified individuals.

A forensic examination indicated that the bodies belonged to people aged between 20 and 30 years old, the source added.

The remains were transferred to the city’s cemetery, where they were buried in accordance with official procedures.
