Syria’s al-Sharaa discusses SDF agreement with Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa held late Saturday a phone call with Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, during which they discussed the agreement reached between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to a statement issued by the Syrian presidency, al-Sharaa and Barzani stressed the importance of safeguarding the national, political, and civil rights of the Kurdish people, as well as the need for cooperation and coordination to ensure the implementation of the agreement with the SDF.

The statement added that Barzani welcomed the agreement between the Syrian transitional government and the SDF, emphasizing the necessity of implementing it in a manner that guarantees Syria’s unity and stability.

In a related development, al-Sharaa also discussed the latest developments in Syria with French President Emmanuel Macron, along with ways to support stability and advance a political solution.

The Syrian presidency said the talks addressed the comprehensive agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF.

Macron welcomed the agreement, according to the statement, and underscored the importance of its implementation in order to preserve Syria’s unity and sovereignty.
